Dr Paul McKay is a General Dentist,and a Principal Dentist at Smile Artistry. Dr Paul McKay concentrates on performing Rehabilitative Dentistry, Dental Implant Surgery and Prosthetics. Dr Paul McKay graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003 with First Class Honours. Dr Paul has over six years experience in Dental Implant Surgeries, and during this time has been accredited with the Australian Society of implant Dentistry, placing and restoring over 500 implants.
Dr Paul McKay is a Misch International Implant Institute Surgical Graduate and is a Fellow of The International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr Paul McKay is a member of The Australian Society of Implant Dentistry and The International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Dr Paul McKay has also completed programs of General and Cosmetic Dental Excellence with Dr John Kois in Seattle , Washington State, U.S.A. Completed programs include Treatment Planning, Occlusion, Perio-Restorative Interface, Implants - Fixed and Removable, Periodontal Surgery. In 2005 Paul also visited The United States for advanced Digital Photography Courses.
Dr Paul McKay attends most major international Implant Conferences including The International Congress for Oral Implantology World Conference in Vancouver in late 2009, in Taipei in late 2006 and The American Academy of Implant Dentistry Conference in Chicago in October 2006. Dr Paul McKay is trained to provide the latest in Computer Guided Dental Implant Surgery with all major dental implant systems.
From 1st July 2010, it is mandatory for Australian Dentists who work in Australia to complete 60 hours of education every three years. Dr Paul McKay exceeds this requirement and has completed more than 345 hours of education in the past immediate three years.

25 Hours - 2010 November - Misch International Implant Institute Advanced Bone Grafting - ABG
This program covers Bone Augmentation Options, including Block Bone Grafting Concepts. These advanced techniques improve surgical capabilities to achieve success and optimum results. The Keys to Bone Grafting are presented in a comprehensive manner. Included is bone anatomy and bone physiology.
Prosthetic Course Three covers the completely Edentulous Implant Treatment Options for Removable and Fixed Prosthetics. A review of generic terminology of implant components and overdentures. Cement versus screw-in prosthesis covers indications and complications and ways to make the procedures more predictable. Bar design and attachment selection types are reviewed in detail to provide knowledge of the best restorative option. Full Arch Fixed Restorations in a step by step prosthetic concept is presented.
25 Hours - 2010 October - Misch International Implant Institute Surgical Dental Implant Program S5
Concepts for immediate loading, immediate restorations and progressive bone loading. Four treatment categories are presented: Single tooth implatns, multiple adjacent missing teeth, full arch fixed prosthesis and complete overdenture prosthesis. Indications, contraindications and unique complications are presented for each of the four immediate load/restoration procedures. In addition, the C-h moderate bone volume patient is addressed relating to the unique surgical procedures and treatment planning.
Prosthetic Course Two covers details of esthetic single-tooth implant restorations and options for fixed prosthesis and short span fixed prosthesis. Implant design rationale, treatment planning and the principles of cement prostheses are also presented. Correct Abutment selection based on each case depending on design and prosthetic optioins. Several comprehensive case studies are demonstrated to display Implant Protective Occlusion, joining of implants to teeth and Crown height Space considerations.

Treatment for the Posterior Maxilla. Sinus Lifts and Sinus Grafting is presented in detail. The unique aspects of the program Maxillary Sinus Pathology and Pharmacology. Complications for this region are covered.
25 Hours - 2010 March - Misch International Implant Institute Surgical Dental Implant Program - S3
Two areas of concern for this session include Maxillary Anterior single tooth implants and barrier membrane particulate grafts. the volume of bone and related procedures cover Division B bone augmentation. Atraumatic Extractions and Socket Grafting are presented. Indications for extractions and immediate implant insertion, aesthetic complication of implant position and angulation are covered in detail.
25 Hours - 2010 January - Misch International Implant Institute Surgical Dental Implant Program - S2
This session focuses on the knowledge of Root Forms and addresses methods to treat various bone densities. The focus includes surgery, uncovery and short and long term complications of implants. It addresses partial and completely edentulous Mandibular Overdentures and fixed prostheses for multiple adjacent missing teeth in the posterior mandible. Altered surgical approaches that are dependent upon bone density are presented in detail. Bone volume classifications include A and B.
