A NEW GENERATION OF DENTAL DISEASE

There is a new generation of dental disease caused by the modern, soft drink diet.

"We see some patients drinking consistently up to 10 litres of soft-drink a day." says Dr McKay.

Dr Paul McKay, from Smile Artistry, has witnessed and treated what these "extreme soft drink diets" can do. "It's becoming a far too common problem" says Dr McKay. 

High level consumption of soft drinks, sports drinks and high-energy caffeine drinks cause the tooth enamel to dissolve after repeated consumption due to the acidic pH, and also accelerates decay formation due to the high sugar content. 

It is unfortunate where a 20 year old needs to have all of their teeth removed due to rampant decay and unfortunately this is the generation who can least likely afford major dental care.

The addiction of soft drinks and alike can cause a life-time of dental and related medical problems.
