Dr Paul McKay BDSc(Hons)

Dr Paul McKay is a General Dentist, concentrating on performing Rehabilitative Dentistry, Dental Implant Surgery and Prosthetics.  Dr Paul McKay graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003 with Honours.  Dr Paul has over five years experience in Dental Implant Surgeries, and during this time has been accredited with the Australian Society of implant Dentistry.  

Dr Paul McKay is a Misch International Implant Institute Surgical Graduate (2010) and has qualified for the prestigious Fellowship of The International Congress of Oral Implantologists.  Dr Paul McKay is a member of The Australian Society of Implant Dentistry and The International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dr Paul McKay has also completed programs of General and Cosmetic Dental Excellence with Dr John Kois in Seattle , Washington State, U.S.A.  Completed programs include Treatment Planning, Occlusion, Perio-Restorative Interface, Implants - Fixed and Removable, Periodontal Surgery.  In 2005 Paul also visited The United States for advanced Digital Photography Courses.

Dr Paul McKay attends most major international Implant Conferences including The International Congress for Oral Implantology World Conference in Vancouver in late 2009, in Taipei in late 2006 and The American Academy of Implant Dentistry Conference in Chicago in October 2006.  Dr Paul McKay is trained to provide the latest in Computer Guided Dental Implant Surgery with all major dental implant systems.

Dr John Bacalakis  BDSC(Hons)

John graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003 with Honours. Since this time John has undertaken advanced studies in a number of dental areas. These areas of study have included participation in the 2005 Asia-Pacific Symposium for the World Clinical Laser Institute and advanced studies in rotary nickel titanium endodontics (Root Canal Therapy).

John recently attended the Kois Centre in Seattle in February and March 2009, bringing an update to Smile Artistry in the are  Advanced Treatment Planning and Occlusion. 

Dr John Bacalakis recently attended the Annual Nobel Biocare Symposium in Sydney.  Dr John Bacalakis is trained to provide the latest in Computer Guided Dental Implant Surgery with all major dental implant brands.

Dr Graham McKay BDSC(Hons)
Graham has a limited practice at Smile Artistry, focusing on Cosmetic and Rehabilative Dental Procedures.  Graham has been at Smile Artistry for over 25 years.

Graham was a Pharmacist (B Pharm Hons), prior to completing his dental degree B.D.Sc. with Honours 1978, and was awarded the University of Queensland medal for excellence in his undergraduate dental studies in 1979. 

Graham McKay completed several continuing education programs in 2005 and 2006. Graham is a member of The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. This is an excellent educational program which boosts significant advances in the area of Cosmetic Dental Procedures. 

Dr Steven Mercurio BDSC(Hons)

Steven graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001 with honours. He spent three years working with Queensland Health in the Atherton Tablelands before moving to Cairns and becoming a Senior Dentist at Cairns Family And Cosmetic Dental Group.

Steven joined Smile Artisrty in 2009 when he moved home to Brisbane with his wife and children.

Steven is highly skilled in all facets of Dentistry with vast experience in Emergency Dentistry (including tooth aches), Restorative and Crown and Bridge Dentistry.

Our Hygienists

At Smile Artistry™ we have four hygienists who are top of their chosen field and are trained to provide cleaning and preventive programs to our patients. Eliza, Kate and Fiona finished top of their classes when they graduated from The University of Queensland.   

Our Hygienists are trained to discuss Decay Management Principles and help to prevent both gum disease and dental decay. Our Dental Hygienists identify the factors causing decay, and give recommendations to make the appropriate changes to prevent further decay, meaning less fillings in the future. From these tests our Hygienists are able to tailor a specific Home Care Program that helps you to protect you teeth and gums.  Our Hygienists are trained to perform your Teeth Whitening Procedures.
