General Dentist in Brisbane | Smile Artistry

General Dentistry involves the dental treatments which provide for a healthy mouth.  General Dental procedures are able to remove and restore areas of decay, decrease sensitivity in teeth, get rid of toothache, remove badly damaged teeth, fix and restore broken teeth, clean teeth and remove staining.

Preventive dentistry is a modern discipline which identifies and halts the development of dental problems through early intervention.  Good preventive dental care will save many hours and treatments in the dental care at later times when treatments often become larger and more involved.

The many other General Dentistry disciplines include: Gums (periodontics), Rebuilding Teeth (prosthodontics), Root Canal Treatment (endodontics), Childrens Teeth (paedodontics), extraction and surgery (oral surgery and exodontia), Hygiene and Diet (preventive dental), and Sleep Dentistry (Intravenous Sedation Anaesthetiology).

Smile Artistry has advanced technologies in General Dental Care.  From your first New Patient Appointment, Smile Artistry uses the latest in technologies: Digital X-Rays with the Schick High Definition Sensors, Digital SLR Photography, Digital Intraoral Photography with a High-Definition Pen-like Camera, Diagnocam to see through the surface of teeth to detect deeper Decay or Cracks, Digital 3D mouth scans to create a 3D digital scan of your mouth, recording all aspects of gum, teeth and bite positions for future reference and tracking change over time.

During this visit you will find your Dentist will be able to assess your mouth using a Kois Diagnostic Process grading key areas by risk factors for future or current dental problems:

Key Area Explanation
Gum Condition The health of your gums is very important. Unfortunately Gum Disease often has un-noticable symptoms until it is well advanced and teeth become loose. Identifying High-Risk Gum Conditions will help to treat Gums early before disease, gum recession, bone loss and lose teeth occur.
Teeth Condition The health of the teeth is often easily apparent but often left till it is unfortunately too late. Teeth which are at a High Risk of problems should be treated with priority. We look to classify teeth with defective restorations, questionable restorations, structurally weak teeth, infections inside the tooth, and decay.
Bite Condition An even bite and fitting teeth results in less wear and tear on the teeth and jaw. Identifying High Risk bite and occlusal issues is important to the long-term health of the mouth and jaws and can prevent worn teeth in later years.
Aesthetic Condition Aesthetic appearance of the teeth, gums and smile is important to each individual in different ways. Our Brisbane Dentists are trained to identify High Risk issues and provide advice and treatments that may be appropriate. This category is often affected by other categories such as: Bite - when the teeth are very worn and broken.
